12th EuroSpeleo Forum Ebensee 2018

Message from the Congress President

Dear colleagues and friends,

What an amazing congress lies behind us, full of exciting presentations, excursions, discussions and competitions. I hope that this meeting provided you with a forum to exchange scientific ideas, inspire new research, and new contacts for closer co-operation. Personally, I am deeply impressed by the warm, helpful, cooperative and encouraging atmosphere of this meeting. That is not the job of the organizers, this is the achievement of all the 691 cavers, who finally attended this congress and made it a success. Moreover, it is a powerful sign of a promising international development of speleology. On the one hand, it is always sad to say good-bye to colleagues and friends.

On the other, we are looking forward to the next Eurospeleo Forum that will be organised in Bulgaria in September 2019.

In this spirit, I would like thank all committee members, guides, volunteers and supporters, who did their best to realise the idea of hosting this speleological congress in Austria.

Good bye and see you all next year in Bulgaria,

Johannes Mattes

Congress President
